Kickoff Cookout at Meriwhether Park

posted Aug 24, 2018, 12:32 PM by Julian Robbins

Hi Everyone -
I am helping to organize the Kickoff Cookout / Picnic this year. As always this is a combination of both the Troop 59 and Pack 57 Scouts and their Families.
All of us hope that you had a great summer and are ready to get back in the game with Scouting activities. We have School Night for Scouting occurring this Thursday, so new Tigers and Lions will be joining our Bear, Wolves and Webelos! As well as the addition of Girls to the Cub Scouting Program and soon to the Scouting BSA program. This will make for an exciting year and provide opportunities for every member of your Family!
Below are both the details and requested items for your Family to bring. No RSVP is needed, just plan to come and enjoy.

Where - Meriwether Park, on Florida St, between "L" and "N" streets, just East of Mississippi Avenue.
When - Saturday, 8/25/2018, 4-6 pm
Basic items to remember - you will need to bring chairs and if you have a table to help with serving, please bring it. We never seem to have enough.

Food items to bring, based on your child's Scout Rank or age level, or your own status. If you fall in multiple categories, please try to do as much as possible. We are expecting at 75 people at least.
Adult Leaders (both Troop and Pack) - Paper and Plastic products, and Condiments. I am coordinating, so please email me what you can manage.
Bears / Wolves (2nd / 3rd grades) - side dishes - chips, salad, fruit - your choice
Webelos 1 & 2 (4th / 5th grades) - dessert
Troop (6th-9th grade) - Drinks - water is needed most, but anything will work. Be sure to cover diet for those that need it.
Troop (10th - 12th grade) - Ice and Cups, trays to serve Hot dogs, wrap to cover items and serving utensils (just in case)

Please call me if you have any questions, 501-251-3861. We are asking our new registrants to bring any item, but not specifying.
Sam Byrd, Committee Chair for the Pack and Assistant Scoutmaster for the Troop is the chief COOK again this year.
