MORE ABOUT TROOP 59 Each week Troop 59 meets to learn about cooking, hiking, camping, tying knots, first aid, orienteering, swimming, our last campout, our next campout, the great outdoors and much more. TROOP 59 IS AN ACTIVE GROUP. Once a month we go on a one or two night campout. Sometimes we include a float trip, backpacking trip, lock-ins or even a "bike hike". Traditionally each summer in June we spend a week at Bass Scout Reservation - Camp Nile Montgomery located in Damascus, Arkansas. At summer camp, monthly campouts and weekly meetings we work on advancement in rank and merit badge training. Scout advancement is emphasized in a transition from Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and finally Eagle Scout. It is also strongly recommended that scouts attend Scout Summer Camp to earn merit badges and earn rank advancement. Every two or three years our older scouts (14 years and older) go on a high adventure outing, such as, Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Yearly, there are other national high adventure opportunites coordinated with our local BSA Council (Quapaw Area Council). From time-to-time we participate in service projectd and troop fundraising projects. We looking forward to meeing you.
